I would like to buy 1 carrier for 2 buns. I’ve been researching carriers, and LOVE the design of the Cabrio Mutifunction Pet carrier, but fear that it’s too short for 2 buns at 20 inches.
        Any other recommendations?
Here’s the link – love that the top opens up and comes down at the sides – so you can easily reach in to pick up your rabbits. without coming from their blind spot.

http://www.walmart.com/ip/Suncast-Deluxe-Personalized-Pet-Carrier-with-Snap-on-Food-and-Water-Tray-Multiple-Sizes-Available-Dogs/9606593This is the carrier I use for my 6 lb girl sunshine. I love it i put some newspaper down and her pink blanket and off we go. they have different sizes and they give you stickers to put your pets name on it. I love it and so does my bunny!

My only concern about that particular carrier is the open front. Even my bigger bunnies could wriggle out of it. Is it open like that constantly or does it just look like it is in the pic?

Edit: I looked at is closer it looks like the front IS covered. So I think it would work fine. The carrier I mention below is 21″.

I use this carrier for my bunnies (but I bought them locally at a lower price):

It’s not fancy but it gets the job done. My two smaller rabbits, 6 and 7 lbs, fit in it well enough together. It’s snug but they’re not smooshed. You don’t want them to have too much room to move around during transport. I’ve had them for a couple years and they’ve held up nicely.

Thank you for the recommendations…I hate to waste money for a carrier that won’t work well for rabbits,

MD: The link does not include measurements. Did you get the one that was 19.4″ long, or 24″?

If 20″ is long enough – I may splurge and get the cabrio….but if you feel the 24″ is better, than the Petmate version seems like a good bet.

I deliberately got a very small carrier with no bars for Porky.  I didn’t want him periscoping and falling over if I had to stop short.  I also didn’t want him holding the bars with his teeth if I took a tight corner.  I knew someone whose bunny developed malocclusion when her rabbit’s teeth were pulled out of alignment that way.

This is like the one I have for Porky.

Also, I think each bunny should have his/her own carrier.  If you are in an accident they will not be thrown into each other that way.  I try to think of my bunny’s carrier the same way I do my child’s carseat/boster, as safety equipment not living space.

I am a fan of the carriers that open on top and in front too. It is much easier to get bunnies in and out. I recently purchased Petmate Two Door Top Load 24-Inch Pet Kennel for my bonded pair and am very pleased with it. I think a bunny could easily hop out of the one you linked to unfortunately. You also don’t want too large of a carrier, they are happier in a smaller one where they have enough room to fully flop, but not much more than that.

I think I might have the 24″ one but I think width is more important then length.

Thank you everyone for the recommendations. We ordered the Petmate 2 door carrier – in 24″ for our two buns. They seem to like to be together in the carrier – and it’s only used for our vet visit, which is only 15 min away.

After watching youtube videos on carriers for rabbits – I fell in LOVE with the idea of the 1st carrier I mentioned above – and if I only had 1 bun or it came in a longer option, I would have gone with it. The see thru window is misleading – and makes it look like there’s an opening – but there isn’t. The top of the carrier folds out/down (like a tackle box or tool box) to make it easy to access your buns from the top/sides, without having to reach straight down into the carrier, and pull them straight up. Also – you can access the food/water dishes from the outside of the carrier. Very well thought of design.

But I’m sure we’ll be quite happy with our choice. I seem to get overwhelmed with the choices out there….and appreciate your help.
