I was thinking of buying my disabled bunny for christmas  the tidy feeder by dunlea http://tidyfeeder.com/products/timothy-hay-tidy-feeder I was wondering if anyone has tried it and if it does keep your rabbits cage cleaner?

Hi! What is your buns disability? Sorry – I have no idea about the ‘tidy feeder’, I’m just curious (if that’s ok?). I had a disabled lorikeet, his feet were twisted and couldn’t fly. He was in a tiny (budgie cage) and was being fed the wrong food, etc., when he was given to us to look after & yes, you guessed, he was never returned and kept him till he passed away a few years ago (still sad). How lovely you have this bun – good on you! All the best, Henry’s mum.

I have never actually tried these, but I don’t know if it would realy keep the cage cleaner, as rabbits love to pull the hay out of whatever they are being fed in.
It also may be expensive because it is not much hay and bunnies always need hay, the bunny would eat all of it so quickly.
Depending on what type of disability your bunny has, it may be better just to buy him some botanical hay or something for Christmas and put it in his litter box.

Hi kamdynandsunshinesmom, thanks for letting me know (again, I hope you didn’t mind me asking). How sad, but how wonderful your bun has you taking care of him. I wish you both all the very best. Cheers, Henry’s mum.

Just letting you know – I have asked questions on a couple of forum’s and never got a reply, I just took it that no one knows….
I haven’t heard of a tidy feeder, but then again, I live in a state where bunny’s are prohibited, and am struggling just to buy his food, lol.
So maybe give it a try? (that’s what I do – frazzled face). But I usually find I just wasted my money (DAM), so have learned to stick to the basics?
My motto – try it, if it works – go for it! If not, don’t do/buy it again. (as if you need to be told that – doh!). Sorry I couldn’t help you out with your query. Hopefully, someone may have tried it and can give you some advice? Cheers.

I agree with LEL, no matter how you hang the hay, your bun will most likely pull it out anyway. I would think you’d end up paying more for the packaging alone. Wouldn’t hurt to try it. I just think that you could probably make one. What about a cardboard shoe box with a hole cut out of it?

Thanks. I buy hay in bulk I just wanted the feeder so after he eats the hay out of the feeder I am just going to keep refilling the hay. It is to expensive to keep buying the hay. I don’t mind you asking and I am happy to share kamdyns story. He has had it for 3 1/2 years and is living such a happy life. Here is a picture of my happy disabled bunny and his setup. Were both lucky to have each other!

That looks like a cozy setup for your bunny. He looks very happy! I didn’t think about that you could refil the feeder, I bet he would like that. Give him extra snuggles from me!

Thanks he is such a happy bunny. He spends most of his day outside of his cage I have him in a laundry basket so that I can move him everywhere I go in the house. He is mostly in his cage when I am not home and if I have my other bunny out. He is one happy bunny and I love taking care of him. Thanks

Haha bunny in a basket! Glad he has such a wonderful mom to take care of him. Is he disabled in both his front and back legs, or one or the other?

He is disabled in the back but can’t move around because he falls over.

I was just wondering, because if he is only disabled in the back, mabye consider getting him a bunny wheelchair?
He might like to feel what it is like to run even though he looks very happy already.

thanks. I went to petco yesterday and was looking at the feeder the hay in the feeder looked like straw and didn’t look good and I wasn’t spending $5.00 just for the box.

                                    Ya… A $5 box is kinda expensive… Just a bit…
I think if you had a small box, you could make your own. Just cut a hole in the front and top and ziptie it to the cage. For more fun, you could attach wood chews to the box as well. He also might like some willow toys for christmas.
