        Hi Everyone!

It’s been about 2 months since I got Ralphie and have learned so much! I posted a few pics when I got him of how i had him set up, but I’ve made some changes since then! (edit:click the pics to make them bigger)

First, I changed his dishes to ceramic bowls. I found these at homegoods for 2 dollars each! they’re heavy and I haven’t had any issues with spilling at all. I originally had a water bottle in there but it kept falling and I was afraid it would fall on him when I wasn’t home and hurt him. After that he had two plastic bowls, which he would knock over while jumping around his cage. Now I have a dry cage (and a dry bunny!)

        change1

second thing I changed is the litter box. His other was was small and had short sides. sometimes he would miss and pee right out of the cage! there was also an issue of him moving his small box to pee right where it was sitting before. I got a bigger box with higher sides to try to address both of those issues. Now, he can’t pee over the sides of the box. He can still move it but it’s a lot harder so hopefully that will deter him as much as possible. The white part of the box is removable for easy cleaning. so far so good! i also moved the hay rack from the far wall of the cage (next to my bedroom wall) because the hay falling outside of the cage was too hard to clean.

        change2

third, I gave him a smaller hidey box. the other one took up a good portion of is cage. while it provided decent space for him to jump up and down, i wanted him to have as much room on the floor as possible. also, he chewed the heck out of that box so i didn’t replace it until i was concerned he’d fall through the top lol. with this one he likes to pile all his toys in when he’s not using them. i also expanded the amount of space his blanket takes up, it used to be half that size until i noticed how much he liked it and wasn’t peeing on it. so now the blanket takes up on half of the cage while the other half is lined with news paper for easy cleanup. everyone say hi to Ralphie!

        change3

Last is his “things.” I originally had all of his things sitting on the top of his cage but after a while I found it difficult to keep it organized. I kept the red hay bin because it makes it easier to contain his hay to the cage area when refilling the rack than it would be to vacuum up MORE hay than i already do every day! next to that I store his carrier, it used to be on the floor blocking me from the bottom drawer of my dresser so it needed a new home. I cleaned his cage just before taking that so it looks a bit cluttered, on top of the crate is his old litter box. i’m not really sure what to do with that yet. next to that stuff is where i keep his blankets. I have a cardboard box on top of the cage itself and the blankets stacked on top (right now you can just see the trash bag i used to dump all his mess in. i also put that on top cause he likes to chew plastic!) the hand broom, spray bottle, and trash bags you see there go in the drawer his carrier was blocking along with newspapers and zip lock baggies for his veggies!

        change4

in addition to all that showed you, i got ralphie his own little toy basket that i keep under my vanity table so it’s out of the way and looks neater. it holds all his toys, treats, and extra bowls. there was also a second bin on top that i kept his litter and food in. i moved it to the foot of my bed. i still keep the litter in there, i just dumped the whole bag into it and got a pet food scoop so i don’t have to struggle putting new litter in the box, which was a problem before when i just kept it in bags. i also have his food in an air tight container that fits in the bin on top of the litter.

Thanks for letting me share! What do you guys think?

I think it’s great – good on you! I thought I made a lot of changes in the past 6 months to accommodate my Henry, housing (changing my furniture), diet (changing our diet), etc., I could go on, lol. Ralphie is one lucky (spoilt) bun! Love it!!!! ha ha ha. Cheers…..
