Hello, i’ve had a angora rabbit for the past 6 months or so and recently his fur has become badly matted. & the bottom of him is very messy, despite trying to clean it. I took him to the vet and she tried to shave him but said that her clippers couldn’t cut through the fur. I’ve been trying to brush out the mattes, but the bottom of him is awful. I don’t know what to do anymore, can someone please tell me?

The mats need to be removed. Have you contacted any local groomers, or do you have a rabbit rescue nearby that might be able to recommend a vet who can shave her down?

Also check your area for any one who breeds or shows long haired breeds… They will possibly be able to help or they may have a groomer they can direct you to.
If the matting has gone to felt it will need to be partially scissor shaved…. My Piglet developed a dreadful felt matt on his rump across his hips and lower back, I spent weeks gently trimming under the fur a milimeter at a time to lift away the fur… Thankfully it was not long after that I found my bunny groomer who has an Angora rabbit of her own.
