Hope this is the right section..

I’m going home for just over a day at Christmas and can’t take Fidget with me (I have two cats at home, and it’s a two hour trip each way which would really stress him out). I’ll be leaving him here. I’m a bit worried about feeding though.

I really doubt I could just put double portions in his bowl – he’d eat it all and then be hungry for the rest of the day

I’m looking at 3 automatic feeders: this onethis one, and this one. The second one, I think the noise might put him off. The first and third, I can’t figure out from pictures how they work – it looks like everything would just flow into the bowl constantly, and Bun could just eat and eat and eat!

Any suggestions, or recommendations of better products?

I don’t know much about automatic feeders, but I’ve left my bunnies alone for a day and a night before and all I did was give them a slightly larger portion of pellets and sprinkle them around their area so they had to hunt them out. I also sprinkled different leaves/veg around their pen which would take them some time to eat. On top of that I gave them 2 bowls of water (sometimes they accidentally jump in and splash the water everywhere or knock them over) and a huge box of hay.

If yours is anything like mine he’ll still eat all the pellets/veg right away but at least searching for them takes up some time and there’s hay available when he does get hungry. Another option is a treat ball – mine absolutely adore theirs and all roll it around as a little team.

Obviously that doesn’t properly answer your question about the feeders, but if it’s just for a day then I think he’d be fine without one, personally

I’ve done much the same as Anabel, for such a short time you really don’t need an automatic feeder, although the second one was pretty cool. The others, as you say, look like the pellets would just keep coming as the bunny eats, and that is of course useless.

Spread out extra pellets and veggies, it’s really a form of enrichment for rabbits, to have to search for their food (enrichment is a term that means the act or process of increasing the intellectual or spiritual resources (of an animal in captivity)). As long as he has lots of hay and water there’s no way he will starve.
