I signed up to one of those fundraising websites to help pay with my bunnies treatment.i have had fluffy since he was a baby he is around 7-8 years old.I am 24 and i suffer from social anxiety disorder / ocd & depression (i have ssdi & medicaid). i dont really have friends and thats what i think normally kickstarts those things.and my family has already helped me in the past with my bun. what would you guys recommend to do? where i should post it i tried it on reddit i rarely ever used reddit before.

any kind of advice would be great!

        Thanks,

Hi, I’m not entirely certain what you are asking but I wanted to post our forum rules concerning asking for money or donations…not sure what you are asking, please feel free to clarify:

Do Not Ask Directly for Money/Fees/Donations: (This includes rescues and humane causes but please see “exceptions” regarding this below)

          • To prevent BinkyBunny from becoming a haven for money solicitation, do not ask for money/donations/fees directly.

          • An individual on behalf of themselves is not allowed to ask for money….ever. (and that includes links to the individualssite where money is requested)

While I understand your request for advice, it still is a bit borderline regarding our rules.

I can suggest CareCredit, which is a form of financial help that vets often work with that allows for payments to be spaced out over time, I think. It’s on the web.

Also, if Fluffy is basically healthy now, or becomes well soon (so you don’t have a pre-existing condition), you can check out VPI Pet Insurance. It costs me $12/month for one bunny, but once accepted, it pays for most vet treatments (not speuters, unfortunately) and with vet bills getting high very quickly, I have found it to be well worth it. They reimburse you promptly when you file a claim, and my vet used their forms easily.

                    Hey Bigmak!

I believe VPI is one of the only pet insurance companies that covers rabbits. A while back I found and bookmarked this post:
                    https://binkybunny.com/FORUM/tabid/54/aft/106326/Default.aspx

It’s from 2009 but it does talk about the cost of VPI vs what they were reimbursed. In years since, some people have enjoyed keeping VPI on their bunnies while others found that they prefer CareCredit cards without insurance more to their liking. Some people have both. I would do a search in the forum as you will find many different people weighing in on these particular options. It might help you make a decision in regards to them.

I’ve known a lot of people to post different fundraising links on their social media sites, they range from the ridiculous (money for a birthday party) to the very serious (money for medical bills). Obviously, the more “friends” you have on these sites, the better your chance of raising the money you need.

My husband raised money for St. Judes a couple years ago this way. Another friend of mine started a fundraiser to help raise money for our local children’s hospital, and someone else started one to raise money for unexpected funeral costs she incurred with the death of a family member.

These only seem to work if you have some way to publicize it.
