Hey!  Just looking for some suggestions on this…  I was told when I bought him that he was a mini rex.  I’ve never questioned this as I’ve never owned a rabbit before so just assumed this was correct.  Well, I took him to the vet and the vet informed me he is not a mini rex (but a possible mix) or even a mini satin as his fur is not as short as a mini rex.

Just curious if I could get some thoughts on this?  I guess it doesn’t really matter as his care would be pretty much the same, but since I’m obsessed with him it would be nice to know. lol!

        Here’s a few pics

His ears and face remind me of a Netherlands dwarf. Perhaps he’s mixed with that…

I don’t know what he is, there is some Rex in there… But he is too cute!

Oh, he’s cute. Definitely not a rex but perhaps a ND Mix as NBO123 said.

He’s probably a mixed breed. I never thought of a ND only because his ears seem bigger, but I guess that’s the point of a mutt. I’ll just think of him as the original Ziggy. haha!

I agree. Definitely not Rex. He looks Nethie-ish though, so he is probably a mix of that. The teeny tiny ears are the desired trait in Nethies, but even purebred ones will not meet breed standards. They are “false dwarfs” because they come from dwarf parents, but do not carry the dwarf gene. They can be small because their parents are small, but they won’t have the dwarfism characteristics (tiny ears, smaller feet, smooshed nose, etc).

Maybe he’s a netherland dwarf rex

                      Adorable!
That second pic… Oh my gosh.

Thanks, Jerseygirl! It’s a fur covered heating pad you put in the microwave. Since he’s not fixed I refer to it as his “girlfriend”. He cleans it sometimes and cuddles next to it. haha!

He reminds me of my netherland Usagi. I believe mine is a netherland polish mix however. I was told mine was a netherland when buying him. Your rabbit is gorgeous no matter the breed!

I would believe Netherland Dwarf mix. It’s so hard to tell with rabbits though.
