my rabbit has been molting for about almost 2 months.. and almost all his fur has falllen out and new fur has grown in, except a few areas like his belly, legs, arms and bum. today i checked him and there has been a bald spot by his leg for like 2 or 3 weeks and it had like 2 little flakes. i have not put anything on it or given him a bath. today i checked it and it was red, like he had been scratching it or biting it. its not very big, maybe the size of a penny but i dont want it to get any worse. can i put baby lotion on it? or oil or something. he doesnt scratch anywhere else and there are no other bald spots, his new fur is nice and soft.

No, no baby lotion. If you suspect mites you need to have the vet do a skin scrape to test and they can prescribe either Revolution or Ivermectin to kill the mites.

Could it be a Ringworm ? I have never seen them on rabbits but I know it can happen…. And Sarita is right, best to get the vet to have a look.

I wouldn’t put anything on it, not knowing what it is you could make it worse. I would see the vet, like Sarita said the vet can do a skin scrape to see exactly what it is and then you’ll get the right treatment.
