This is urgent!! My miniature Netherland lop was bred by a large meat rabbit (Champagne Deargent) we had no idea this happened since we believe she is already three-four years old already and he had broke the latch separating their cages. This is her first litter and she’s having complications with the birth. We called our local vet and said they can do nothing. Is there anyway I can help her? Please respond ASAP! Thank you.

She’s been in labor for 2-5 hours and she’s still bleeding she keeps making small noises and is breathing heavy but she hasn’t delivered the babies usually our rabbits give birth within 1-2 hour period.

I would take her to the vet anyway – this is does not sound good and she sounds like she is suffering.

She needs emergency help. You cannot manage this at home. Go to a vet right away!!

If the babies are stuck, then there isn’t anything you can do at home. She needs a vet ASAP. I don’t know how they could say there is nothing they can do. Is this an exotics vet?

The vets still claim they cant do anything for her. She seems more relaxed then what she was. This being her first litter she must not be understanding what to do.

I’ve read that if a rabbit is not bred for the first time by their first year they should not be bred because their pelvis can seal together. You need to get her to the vet. They need to see if it’s because her pelvis just simply will not allow it or because it’s a large kit that’s stuck. I’m so sorry but this needs medical attention. Call a different vet. The fact they turned you down states that they are t rabbit savvy. A good vet will TRY to figure out why and if something is able to be done. She can die if those babies don’t come out. The fact that this is not only her first litter at 4 years old, but with a large rabbit is highly concerning

She’s not confused on what to do. It could be because it’s physically impossible to do it. She’s probably more calm because she is exhausted. Please get her help :/

There is no vet but one near her we’ve already been turned down. We don’t have the gas nor money to drive an hour to a vet that may or may not be able to help her. That’s why I asked for suggestions on how I can help her.

We are a house bunny forum, so we don’t support intentional breeding. Most members here are not going to have any experience with baby bunnies. I know you are desperate for help, but really the only thing we can suggest is that you seek veterinary care. I’m speaking strictly from a biological point of view, since that is my background. NBO is right, she could die if the babies are in there and they don’t come out. If they are too big or her pelvis is fused, like NBO suggested, then there really isn’t anything you can do yourself. She would need surgery.

Everything I am finding online is giving instructions for babies that are part of the way out already, stuck in the birth canal.

If you don’t have gas money to drive an hour to a vet, WHY DO YOU HAVE PETS?????
If you want to save this rabbit go borrow a few dollars and GET HER TO A VET! It may be too late to save the kits but at least TRY to save her!

It’s unlikely she’ll deliver these babies. If you do nothing, both her and the babies will die. Take her to a vet NOW. If you’re not willing to do that, I’d suggest you put her out of her misery. Maybe you’ll at least be able to save the little ones that way.

As Cheri just said, if you aren’t able/willing to provide veterinary care, you shouldn’t have any pets and most certainly you shouldn’t BREED them!

This poor animal is paying the price for the fact that you’ve been careless and are unprepared.

I am going to lock this thread and hope the owner seeks vet help as advised to help her rabbit. That is all we can do.
