This is what I came across at Menards tonight. I picked up a 40 lb bag for 5 bucks. I couldn’t find anything on the bag that said they included chemicals…The website didn’t state anything either. Anyone use these??

          What are BTUs?

BTU = British Thermal Unit. Basically a measurement of the heat produced by burning it. I learned that from King of the Hill! Who says TV doesn’t teach you anything. XD

Is this a store brand? If it is you could probably ask them. If not, do you know the brand?

Doesn’t appear to be a store brand. The company that makes them also makes pelleted pet litter that looks extremely similar by description. I have never used wood stove pellets before so didn’t know what to look for exactly. I did read a few things online that said that if the company used chemicals it would say so on the bag? This bag doesn’t indicate anything and neither does the diagram. According to the diagram it is lumber that is processed into pellets…nothing about anything added to them…

MD, now I can’t argue with my husband anymore about King of the Hill not being worthwhile TV LOL!

I did a little search around the forum and it seems the common consensus is that if it has added accelerant it would be on the label. Another thing mentioned was that it’s more common for WSP to be safe/without accelerant because when used for their intended purpose you want them to burn longer. With that in mind, I think they are likely safe.

If you want to double check you can contact the manufacturer.
