I went ahead and took my bunny to the vet last week because she was peeing a lot more than usual but the vet couldn’t find anything wrong.  He said she was sludgy but otherwise fine and gave her a little bit of antibiotics as more of a precaution.  That was on Monday and now, the excessive peeing has stopped but she seems much worse than before.  She barely ate anything last night.  My bunny would chew through my wrist if she thought it would mean getting her pellets faster so i’m very worried about her sudden lack of an appetite.  She ate maybe a quarter of her pellets last night and practically none of her veggies.  I saw her nibbling on hay this morning and she took a few pieces of spinach and when I offered her some dried cranberries she took them with her usual enthusiasm, but still no pellets.  I gave her a bit of watered down juice too so I know she’s took in some fluids this morning.  Obviously she’s still eating on her own but I’m still really worried.  There was barely anything in her litter box this morning (changed it late last night so it might have been too early) and the few poos were really small.

She’s not acting like she’s in pain but she has been very withdrawn.  She’s mostly been sleeping upstairs by herself (laying all stretched out like she’s totally comfy) and she seems very happy whenever I sit and pet her but she really hasn’t been seeking me out for affection (like she normally does) for the past 2 days now.

Just… everything about her behavior and eating habits are off right now and it’s making me a mess with worrying.

I already contacted my vet and he said it was too early to tell if it was serious so to check back tonight.  I’m just very frustrated right now because it’s not too early to tell anything, I’m telling you right now something is wrong.  I’m at work at the moment (watched her eat, drink and poo (a tiny bit) this morning so I feel okay about leaving her alone for a few hours) but I’ll check her when I get home and talk to my vet again.  If he’s still hesitant about doing anything I’ll just take her to a different vet because I really don’t want her to go into stasis.

Is this the bunny that ate a marshmallow the other day?

yes but I don’t really think that source of the problem. This whole mess of visiting the vet started before that.

She seems to be feeling better tonight. Got home from work to an empty bowl of pellets and poos in the box. I did find some random poos around the house (she neeeeeever goes outside her box) that she had obviously been chewing on/eating. Not cecals but regular poos. Other than that everything seemed okay though. She still isn’t back to her usual self but she’s definitely better.

I see she is 6 months old – it is also possible her metabolism is changing…hopefully that is all it is.

She’s more like 9 months now. I distinctively remember having a freak out the first time she left some veggie scraps on her plate. lol. So yeah, her metabolism has already slowed down a lot. I really think whatever medicine the vet put her on disagreed with her for whatever reason. I don’t know what he gave her (yay language barriers) but I can’t think of anything else that would cause such an upset to her system. Sure the stupid marshmallow didn’t help but i’ve caught her eating far worse with zero effects so I’m more inclined to blame it on the meds.

That can happen. Even with ones considered safe for rabbits. A bit worrisome what she had was unknown. It wasnt labelled or written in different language?
Some commonly prescribed ones for cats & dogs aren’t great for rabbits.
                    Happy to read she’s improving.

No they make up like individual doses and put it in little packets so I don’t have a bottle with a label or anything.

                        Yikes!

I suppose that ensures the owners get the dosage right.
