        Hi guys!

My bunny is 3 month old, so i started to introduce a bit of veggies, but everytime i do that, after a few hours, his poop doesn’t have its normal shape, little dry balls, but its like they are all glued together and are shinny and a bit soft.. I think it’s called cecal poop I don’t know.

What do you guys think? Should I wait more time to give him veggies? Or a vet visit is necessary?

How much and what type are you offering?

I give him cilantro and basil, like 2 times a week only because of the poop.. I give like 3/4 leaves of each..

Yep, those are cecals, they look like little bunches of poo grapes.. It is not unusual for young bunnies to leave extras as they need a diet very high in nutrients. If your baby was not exposed to greens previously you need to take it slowly introducing them to his diet. Maybe start with some sprigs of coriander/cilantro and after a week or so add some parsley or basil… Too much too soon can result in diarhhea.

A baseline vet check is always a good idea to make sure there aren’t any problems that can be dealt with early. In the ineterim, unlimited hay and a good healthy pellet with just a little bit of greens.

I would take it slow with the veggies for now, and make sure he eats lots of hay. It can definitely be normal for babies to leave cecals, so I wouldn’t be overly concerned, but if you haven’t seen a vet for a basic checkup now might be a good time.

So I have to go real slow..

Next week i’ll have to go to the vet so the bunny can take a shot, so I’ll ask the vet about this issue!

                  thanks
