        Hey y’all,

I just got a bunny a few days ago and i spend a lot of time with him, but i wonder if i should get another bunny to go with him? I heard from someone that if i had two bunnies that they wouldn’t want to have much to do with me. Is this true?? Will my company be enough for my bunny or does he need a friend?

Although rabbits are social creatures, If you’re able to spend quality time with your bun on a regular basis – it’s not necessary to get him a buddy.

We ended up getting a second bun – but our first bun still prefers spending time with us. He still runs around us, twitching his head, and loves to be pet.

Just be aware that bonding can take months, and may be stressful – and I must say- litter box habits may also suffer with two buns – if one or both are territorial. But I’m still glad we got our second bun.

It’s not necessary to get a second if you enjoy having one. It is fun to have two and watch them interact, but I do think that it’s important to spend time bonding with your first rabbit before getting a second.

Bonding is also stressful and can take a while, so it’s not something to enter into lightly.

My first bun has never been super social and he did become less social after bonding. Our second girl has always loved people, and still did after bonding. So while it may not make a social bunny into a recluse, I think it gives the anti-social buns a chance to ignore people even more.
