Lately at night my bun has been being naughty and digging up everything and anything he can get his hands on. Judging from posts here it seems like the best bet is to make a dig box out of something cardboard (was thinking old shoe box with newspaper) but my big concern is how do you prevent him from using it as a second litter box? Especially if he pees on or in it, it doesn’t exactly absorb the pee well and I don’t want it basically going into the carpet below.

        Any suggestions?

You could just try giving him a fleece blanket or towel to dig and throw around. Mine only ever peed on it when they were still unaltered. Since they’ve all been altered I’ve never had problems with the blanket or towel.

I tried the diggy box thing but mine were never very interested. I was always worried about them using it as a 2nd litter box also so I just used a cardboard box and then stuck a phone book in so they could tear that to shreds. They were sem-interested but not really so I ended up just taking it out.
