Hi all! So my two boys were 8 weeks old yesterday. They are Flemmies, so I know they have to eat a lot to grow up big & strong, but OH MY GAWD can they eat!!! They go through 3 cups of pellets a day and nearly a half bag of alfalfa! I had to go buy a cat waterer because they wouldn’t use the water bottle and they emptied a regular cat water dish 3 times a day! They don’t seem to be growing UP so much as getting fat fuzzy bellies! I don’t remember Jo-Jo eating so much, but maybe it’s just that there’s two of them. Is it ok at this age for them to just eat as much as they can hold? I keep waiting for one to explode! Lol!

They should be fine. Since they are eating so much right now, I would probably start introducing veggies within the next week or so. You don’t have to wait until 12 weeks as long as you move slowly and only give a little at a time.

Oh, thanks, Beka! They’ll love that!

I laughed at the title of this topic…

Keep editing my post after realizing others are probably giving better advise seeing as I have never owned a flemmie, or a baby bunny…

Eating is pretty much the Raison D’etre for baby bunnies… Fat bellies is a good sign in little ones. I agree with Beka, start slowly introducing greens..
Whilst they are growing food should be pretty much unlimited.

When Helo and Inara were babies they would go through about a cup each a day. Feeding them and my other three limited pellets and I was going through about 50 lbs of pellets every month or so. O.o I’m always shocked by how much bunnies can eat!

Anyway, I’m not helpful. I just wanted to empathize.

Yep, when my buns were still little Oopsies they could pack it away like Vikings at a banquet…. and they are not even a particularly large breed. They started to reduce their own food once they got past 12 weeks or so, before then anything was fair game, even the basil straight out of Pepper and Piglets Mouth.
