I brought my bunny out to play today from his hutch outdoors (I know, I’m trying to get him indoors as soon as possible) and I noticed when I set him down that something was majorly wrong with his eye. I know that both eyes were a brownish/ blackish normal color the former day. It’s currently a blue with a film over it….I don’t see a pupil what so ever. Does anybody have any idea what this could be?

Unfortunately I can’t tell you what it is but my suggestion would be a vet visit. Hope he feels better soon!

I suggest vet asap. That does not sound good at all. Please let us know what the vet says.

Might be that he suddenly developed a cataract in that eye. Defiantly get to the vet asap. Good luck and hopefully everything is ok

                  Tomorrow should be fine.

I’m not very familiar with cataracts. Do they come on so suddenly like that?

Cataracts usually do not set on so quickly. Most likely, it is a hay poke, and with need antibiotic treatment.

Sounds like a trauma to the eye-could be a scratch or abscess, or even an infection. The good news is they are relatively cheap to fix, you just have to get to a vet to get the right treatment. They can take some time. It’s probably best, if you can, to have your rabbit indoors for the treatment so you can limit his exposure to anything and keep close watch on him.

Okay, thanks for all the advice. My dad works with a vet technican so he’s gonna ask him what vet he reccomends. We should get him to a vet late tonight or early in the morning. I will talk to my dad about bringing him indoors for this weekend and the following week. I’m off on fall break this coming week so I will be able to keep a close eye on him.

If you do end up bringing him in for a week, i would keep him very clean and everything and mabye your parents will find it is not so bad having a bunny in the house.
