My bunny was spayed today and the vet is about an hour and a half away. I called and they said everything went well but they wanted to wait to let her go until she eats and poops. They said however, if I really wanted to come get her I could, because she may just be more comfortable at home, so I chose to take her home because I know that she won’t ever eat in strange places. She was spayed this morning at about 10 am, and got home at 6:30 pm. She was very lethargic and tired, so I have been letting her rest. She has no interest in food, but I got her to eat about half a sprig of cilantro and a yogurt treat. She is drinking a lot. My concern is, is this enough food, do bunnies usually only eat this little amount after being spayed? Someone please help!

The day of surgery it’s normal for their appetite to be suppressed a bit. She should eat more tomorrow. Did they give you take home pain meds?

Also, I would not feed the yogurt treats as they are bad for bunnies in general and could cause tummy upset. Bunnies can’t digest dairy.

I forgot to mention that there is another person on the forum that spayed their bunny today. You can find some good info on her thread:
