I went In to my room last night and saw that one ear was flopped! does this mean he will be a Lop?

P.S. He’s about 3 months old and I don’t know what breed he is but I thing a heard that he dad’s a Lop, but I’m not 100%

Helicopter ears!!! My guess is that they will lop. Although, some mixed breed buns have the permanent helicopter ears. He’s really adorable!

            I hope they flop!

He definitely looks like a mix – I don’t know enough about different breeds to pinpoint, but the shape of his body and ears surely look like he’s got lop in him… what a cutie!

Simba’s ear flopped over about 10 days ago – and both his parents are Flemish Giants!

                  Weird!

My bunny Yohio right ear suddenly flopped one day and stayed down for a month or so, then it rose up again and has been up since. I don’t know why. He is definitely a mixed breed and his ears look heavy, but they don’t lop.

Just keep an eye out -sometimes a flopped ear can mean an ear infection so just keep an eye out for a head tilt or loss of balance or falling.

Some bunnies are just helicopters – one of mine, also 3 months old, kind of picks on a day to day basis what her ears are going to do – adorable!

One of my buns has a permanent helicopter ear – except its RIGHT in the middle of his head so we call him the fluffy unicorn. The nickname will make sense when you see this … :p

                            Such cute helicopter buns!

Rabbit lineage can be so crazy! Even “purebred” buns may have a different breed in there a few generations back. (Rabbit breeding is not as controlled/documented as dog breeding.)

My bun has partially lopped/helicopter ears too. Having trouble figuring out what his breed is. The Doe was a checkered giant and the buck is unknown. I saw the doe and she was HUGE. These are a few pics of ‘HELLI’ when I first brought him home freshly weaned from the doe. I’ve had him since June, so he’s about 5-6 months old. He’s 3 times the size now as he was in the pics, about 7 or 8 lbs. Hard to tell because he’s a snuggler on the floor, but not the lap.

Any ideas? I’m thinking Dutch/Checkered Giant cross?

Welcome JoAnn E – it’s always better to start your own thread instead of piggybacking on another member’s thread – it just confuses people :~)

But to answer your question, I would just say a Checkered Giant Mix (mixed with what – it can be virtually impossible to truly know). He sounds cute. Feel free to go to the introduction section and introduce yourself and your rabbit and post pictures of him – we love pictures.

the way her ears are depend of the day… depends on what she wants to watch on TV :p

she is a mix of holland lop and netherland dwarf

(His ears have been like that for 1-2 weeks now)

oh… i have a couples of pictures of the 2 “transition” weeks of pixelle. once both of them were down, once came back up. depends on what she’s doing, she has both down, but if i talk to her, one, sometimes two go up. or when she is relaxing like in the picture one stays up…
                                                its weird but cute
it started to change about the same age as your bun.

                                                they might settle one day.
by the way your bunny is so cute haha

sorry for the bad quality… i took the pictures with my phone and the details are not good as she is black so i added filter so we can see her face.

Because I have no idea what breed Storm(my bun) is

And when Storm get happy and Binky’s and such both his ears do go up for a short time

The breeders called her breed a hybrid dwarf. Her mother is a holland lop and father is a netherland dwarf
