        Hi all

My bunny who’s just shy of 4 months old has kinda gone through a 180 personality change. Vet here will not neuter until sic months old so I don’t know if that matters.

He used to be rather cuddly and love attention. Case in point when I have him in his xpen and I step in hell run all around my feet and be super excited. Now he kinda runs away from me instead of being playful.

The only change I can possibly think of is that we clipped his nails for the first time without the vets aid. We didn’t make him bleed or anything but we did kind of have to hold him for quite some time as we’re novices at this. Though this ten minute ordeal shouldn’t make him do such a drastic change would it?

Any idea would be greatly appreciated to bring back his playful cuddly behavior.

Do you generally pick him up out of his pen? He could be trying to avoid that. He’s getting older and hormones and just normal growing up could contribute to a variety of new behaviors or preferences. Often baby rabbits are more cuddly than adult rabbits. Have you tried getting down to his level? My rabbits are much more companionable when I’m not towering over them.

Is it just the running away when you enter the pen that’s changed?

Yeah I always have and he’s been super well behaved. He would normally stay perfectly still when picked up.

Running away and no longer coming to me when I get in his cage to play with him yeah. Usually he gets super hyper and knows it’s play time but all he does now is either dig or run away 🙁

I just sounds like he’s growing up. =)

Most baby rabbits don’t mind being held but as they grow up that changes. All of it sounds like normal growing up! Don’t be sad, you’ll learn new ways to enjoy each other’s company. Try hanging out on the floor with him and hand feeding veggies and treats (not a lot of treats of course!). Sometimes just getting down to their level and ignoring them (reading a book, ect…) can peak their interest in you.

Thank you all for the help!
He seemed to be more interested the more I ignored him lol
