My 3.5lb guy drinks at least 40oz a day… I am constantly refilling his bottle. However he is not yet having fresh greens because the vet said to wait until he started eating more hay which he is here and there.

he is acting fine – I just have to change his litter box almost daily because he pees so frequently!

he had a very sugary diet until I adopted him about a month ago. He is about 11 months old.

he is getting neutered tomorrow so I will ask the vet then but any feedback is very much appreciated!

Hmm. When they have a salad, mine drink about half a regular cereal bowl of water. When they don’t have a salad, they can drain it, need it refilled and drain it again. Not sure how many ounces it is. But, Powder got switched off a water bottle because it couldn’t give him enough water and he would sit there for five minutes clacking away on the nozzle because of it. He can drain a bowl in one sitting if he’s really thirsty.

My bun never even finishes her bowl (although it IS large dog sized) and I hardly ever see her at it.

Mine drinks a ton! (checked with the vet and was assured there were no underlying issues that could cause this) He drinks way more out of a bowl than a bottle though. He much prefers the bowl but he has both in case I’m not around to refill his bowl. I ended up getting one of those automatic refill bowls from the bet store. LOVE it! Mine also eats a ton of hay though and I think it makes him thirsty. I agree with stickerbunny. When my guy eats a lot of wet fresh greens he tends to drink a little less (marginal difference but it is there). Does your bun get a fair amount of pellets? My 3 lb guy gets only about 1/8 cup now and that has increased his hay consumption by a ton. Just a thought…

omfg, my porky 7 ~ 10 pound rabbit requires a bowl refill maybe twice a day. For a while, I had a tiny lionhead that NEVER STOPPED DRINKING WATER!!! I had to do the bowl and bottle just so I could keep up and I’d spray water on his greens a little extra just so he wouldn’t have to be attached to that stupid bottle, although I’m with Kbana, I don’t think it made a ~massive~ difference.

We had him for a while (a little less than a year?) and he never stopped drinking a TONNN of water. He’d wake me up with that stupid bottle some times just hammering on it for more and more and more…. @.@

Now I’m worried for the opposite… my bun is 3.7 lbs and just goes through about 6oz a day…

Porky’s like mijOok’s bunny, he only drinks a few oz a day.

Excessive thirst and frequent peeing is sign of diabetes. I would get him tested for that.

The other possibility is if they are getting a lot of salt. I’m wondering if all those thirsty bunnies are getting more salt than Porky and mijOok’s bunny.
