right now i line my bunnys cage with newspaper and then put yesterdays news and bedding in the litter box and ive seen some people using fleece. whenever i give my bunny a blanket or a little towel he just scrunches it up and digs and poos on it. would fleece be better than news paper on the bottom ? or should i just leave the newspaper?

He doesn’t really need anything on the bottom of the cage, but if you want to use fleece, you can hold down the corners with bricks.

i put a folded fleece down on one side (about 1/5th of the floor) of my cage and the rest is newspaper lined. my boy loves to lay on it and dig in it sometimes but it’s in a small enough area that he can do whatever he wants to it and not mess up everything in his cage lol

Apollo used to do that, and I used newspaper. He used to dig that up too and make SUCH a mess! However, the newspaper and ‘no bedding’ flooring didn’t work for me – he got sore hocks. I waited till he was neutered, and then he got folded fleece all over the floor of his condo. He doesn’t dig in the fleece anymore, apart from when he’s protesting about ‘out’ time!

I use binder clips to hold the fleece on my rat’s cage. I love it as it stays relatively dry. He still manages to find a way under it though.

I agree that no cage lining is necessary, and generally encourages them to pee out of the litter box. Fleece is fine though if you wan to use it. It’s normal for them to push it aside and lay on the plastic bottom.
