Fidget came through the surgery this morning well and is moving around and eating hay (not keen on fruit and veggies yet though). He's licking and chewing at his stitches a lot though. We've got a checkup on Thursday morning but I'd rather try and limit the damage so he doesn't have to have more stitches or anything.

Is there anything I can do to stop it?

        M x

There are soft cone collars available that will help prevent the chewing… Some people also make little vests out of large socks or modified baby onesies…

A friends cat fell into a tub of motor oil (her landlord left in an outbuilding) and to minimise ingestion is currently wearing a long sleeve/leg baby onesie backwards with the bottom cut out.

One of my buns had to wear an e-collar after his neuter for the same reason. It’s unfortunate but necessary if he won’t leave the area alone.

Luckily he stopped chewing and licking on Monday night! Poor bun was so grumpy for those two days, but yesterday he perked up and was bouncing around asking for treats.
Checkup this afternoon, which I’m sure will go fine, and hopefully by the time I get back his crate will have been delivered so he can explore his nice new pad!

              Thanks guys x

Hmm. Just back from the vet.
Apparently he chewed all his stitches out on Monday (which is why he stopped putting his head down!)
Luckily they’ve scabbed over enough that he doesn’t need more. But now I’mpoff to invest in some baby shorts to stop him getting at those!

                Silly old bun! X

Oh no, not right now when Binkybunny has a problem with photo-uploads, you just can’t put baby-shorts on your bun without letting us see how he looks in them!

Great that he didn’t need new stitches. Hope he’ll get well soon!

It might end up being a sock, they don’t sell baby shorts small enough for him!
I need to figure out where best to cut holes for pooping and peeing before putting it on him, I’m fairly sure I’ll only have one chance!
                    (anyone got any ideas? )

If they’ve scabbed over enough that he doesn’t need to be re-stiched, he’s probably good to go. But bunny shorts sound cute!
