i bought a petkin hairball lickstick for cats today at walmart, its like a deoderant stick and it says to feed to cats right from the stick and let them lick it. would this be okay to let my bunny lick it to make sure he doesnt get any hair balls because hes going through a huge molt right now and im scared he'll ingest some fur. also is there any food i can give him to help with hair balls besides hay and water ? like any fruits that will help fur balls ?

the ingredients of the stick are : malt extract, petrolatum, purified water, monoglyceride, vitamin e and sodium benzoate. it does not say anything about rabbits being able to eat it just the dosage for cat and kittens

Hairballs aren’t what buns get. They get blockages. But, no I wouldn’t let yours lick the stick. The best way to prevent a blockage from a molt is –

Brush frequently, a wet hand works well for getting the fur off without stressing the bunny out between real grooming sessions.
Lots of hay. Hay helps them digest the hair and keep it moving.
Papaya and pineapple are supposed to help, but I am unsure if there have been proven studies about it. But, a papaya tablet once a day is a nice treat anyways.

I also use a lint roller on my bunny after reading about the idea on here. It works really well! and my bun is completely fine with it. I use it every day or two right now because he’s swapping his winter coat for a summer one
