I’ve posted about Bunny before & how I kind of just have been bunny sitting him every once in a while. Well, turns out, I ended up talking to is original owner about finding a new more permanant home for him & she’s very hesitant but we agreed that she’ll pay me monthly to care for him for the next 4 months!!

The only thing is, she says not to give him romaine lettuce because it’s bad for bunnies I have never heard this before! I don’t know if she meant just Bunny has a bad reaction to it or all bunnies. So I’m going to ask her for clarification. But in the meantime, has anyone else heard this?

It would be so much easier on me to be able to feed him all the same vegetable that Mimzy is on, but instead I’ve been leaving out the romaine for him. He didn’t have a very steady diet as it was either. He was getting something different nearly every week it seemed. I have Mimzy on Collard, romaine, red leaf, parsley, kale, & just switch them out. I introduce a new one every so often just for variety, but Bunny has never been slowly introduced to a new food, they just gave it to him =/

I feed my bunnies romaine lettuce ~
Maybe she confused romaine lettuce with iceberg lettuce or like you said it’s maybe a miscommunication and what she may have meant was that the romaine lettuce didn’t settle well with Bunny’s tummy. =)

Maybe you should coax the owner bit by bit about finding Bunny a new permanent home. I’m pretty sure the reason why she is so hesitant is because she feels attached to Bunny. If she cares I’m sure she’ll gradually come around in agreeing to have him go to a home where Bunny can be better cared for ~ =)

Romaine is fine. Mine would get rather grumpy without their daily romaine

That’s what I thought! So I did ask her about it, she tends to buy her vegetables from a very expensive market place & that’s the only place she’ll ever buy them from. But I just get my veggies at the grocery store down the street from me lol. Much more on my budget So she just said sometimes she gives Bunny green nutrient rich romaine but never iceberg.

So I guess I’ll try it
I have tried already to gently coax her to find him a new permanant home, but she wouldn’t budge =/ Hopefully later down the road I can try a little bit more. She might just need to get used to the idea. I don’t want to stress her about it too much.

Romaine is fine. Mine live on it almost exclusively because Otto is very picky about veggies. I also love that it’s pretty cheap, comes in large quantities, and lasts for a whole week in the fridge without wilting.

Iceberg is not good for them, and I think some people just hear “lettuce is bad” and take that to mean all lettuce. Or get confused about which one is bad.

I can no longer feed romaine to mine because it either causes poopy bum or gives them gas. But I think mine are just strange like that.
