Just looking for some opinions. We have two buns both with a history of Pasturella. One had the full on snuffles as a baby and went to a respiratory coma before she completely had a dramatic recovery and became asymptomatic to this day. The other bunny just had eye discharge during that same time. They both have been fine since with the one bunny who had snuffles occasionally getting a stuffy nose here and there but never worsened. However, the last 6 weeks the one bunny of ours that never had a history of upper congestion (one with just the eye discharged) has been whistling through his nose sometimes when he runs aroud like it is a little congested. It’s not interfering with his daily activities (binkying, getting into things, begging for food, ect). Is it worth it to take them both to a vet visit since he sounds a little stuffed up? No sneezing noted from either of them. They are both bonded.

On a side note, we are both college students. So avoiding the vet if not necessary would be nice to save money. On the flip side, our bunnies are our best friends and we want them to be healthy as can be.

Welcome to BB! I’m almost your neighbor (N. Olmsted)!

How old are they and when was their last vet visit? Rabbits do require annual exams just like cats and dogs, so if it’s about time for them to be seen again, that would be a good time to bring this up since you’re there anyways.

It could be something as simple as needing some antibiotics, but it will need to be seen by a vet.

Such a small world! We actually just moved south one city to Strongsville for a short-term lease until we make a big move to Florida (away from the snow!). My girlfriend and I are both BW alumni.

They were young (maybe 3-4 months) during the last vet visit. Its been exactly a year. We did plan on taking them for an annual check up before we move. I guess we will just do it sooner rather than later for the whistling noses. Thanks!

BW is such a beautiful school! Good luck with the move! I take it you’re driving down to FL?

A long car trip like that can be stressful and stress can exacerbate illness, so it’s good that you’re going to get them treatment prior.

Keep us posted how everything goes!
