My bunnies are soooo good, I am blessed ^^ no fighting or biting or aggression, Barney still humps Belle (but not incessantly) but other than that they are grooming, snuggling and cuddling. So what are my next steps guys? I am going on an hour car journey tomorrow with both of them and was thinking I could let them be together for the journey as a minor form of stress bonding? Wouldn’t be too stressful as they are fairly used to car journeys so what do you guys think? I just need some guidance on when to finally put them together 24/7!

AnnaW: I recall reading that you should wait 4 weeks after a spay before starting the bonding process…as her hormone levels are likely still high.

Also – since she was just very recently spayed, Barney’s humping could be uncomfortable for her, if not painful. I’d wait before allowing them to be together.

I read that too, but also read some contrasting literature which basically said that as Barney and Belle had quite a strong relationship before her spay, with no fights EVER that it would be beneficial for them to spend time together as soon as Belle was behaving like her usual self. My vet in fact told me to wait until she was eating and moving normally and then to let them meet under close supervision!
            All these contrasts in advice!

I think they can have supervised visits but I wouldn’t try to leave them together alone until she’s at least 2 weeks healed. It seems to be a good healing time frame. I agree with BnB’s Mom about the humping being a possible issue until she’s healed properly. Once she’s healed I would do what is normally suggested and supervise them for 24-48 hours and see how they get along. If they get along well, no fights, no issues than they’re probably ready to live together full time.
