Ok so about an hour ago I was walking home from school and I saw a rabbit in the bushes. Normally where I live that wouldn’t be a big deal, but this rabbit is grey, definitely not a cottontail. So I picked her up and knocked on the doors in that area and one of the neighbors informed us of who owns her, saying that she gets out a lot. So we go to that house and enter the back yard (nobody was home) because we were told there’s a hutch. The yard was crazy overgrown, the hutch had multiple holes chewed in the wire and there was no food or water. Obviously, I chose to take the rabbit home and put it in the wire crate we have with some cucumer (No rabbit food). I also noticed that she has a white abcess on one of her eyes. What do I do next?!

Call your local ASPCA and ask about the laws in your area. Get some grass from your backyard to feed the bunny right now, and then go to a pet shop and pickup some pellets and hay. Take pictures of the abscess.  If possible take pictures of the hutch, but make sure you take the pictures from off the owners property so that you can’t be acussed of tresspassing.

Lots of vets will take strays or injured wildlife-I would phone around and see who can take him. He’ll need that eye treated asap. They can alert authorities for you as well.
