Our walls are wood paneling and we rent a very old house they are warped from heat and humidity. Well, Rodger has taken to chewing them. How can we prevent this?

We had to tack cardboard up along almost all of our walls to keep little Izzy from chewing them. Depending on how far he can stretch up you might have to do it 2 – 3′. Using push pins, the flat headed ones worked fine for us. We also have wood paneling in the living room, just go in between the boards in the grooves with the push pins and you wont be able to notice any of the small holes they make.

Mine love drywall. Seems to be the most tasty thing ever. We fenced chew areas off with NIC grids.

I have a Flemmie. And an 800 sq ft house. That’s a lot of cardboard and or nic grids…. He’s doing better now that his one favorite spot is blocked off. Haven’t seen him chew at all, actually. We are ordering our xpen “gate” (gonna open it up and block off the tv area so he can’t eat the wires while we aren’t home) next Thursday. Leaving him with freedom of the entire house for the first time will be nerve wracking but a true test to see if he’s done testing us. (We’ve had him for less than a week)

I use NIC grids to fence off any areas they are going after.

If it’s just one small specific spot, I’ve found some commercial no chew products work well. I have one meant for bunnies that is lime flavored, and it works for my girl (bunnies generally dislike citrus) if there is one spot she won’t leave alone.
