I brought Roger home the day after he was neutered. Now, three days later I am wondering if his stitches are dissolving or need to be removed. I wasn’t told he’d need any care when he came home (I asked to make sure I could safely handle him without hurting him and all) but the stitches are thick blue plastic. I can’t get ahold of the vet he was neutered at but I’m a bit concerned. Are these dissolvable?

If they didn’t tell you about any after care then I would think they would be the kind that dissolve. I wouldn’t assume anything though and either contact the vet or rescue and ask. In my experience when stitches need to be removed it’s usually done about 2 weeks after the surgery.

Most vets seem to use dissolvable these days, and if they used traditional stitches they should have scheduled your follow up visit when you picked him up.

I would call the vet to confirm, but it’s not an emergency if it takes a day or so to get in touch with them.

I would be glad that he got stitches in the first place.
I just got my rabbit neutered, and they didn’t give him any stitches at all… Not even glue.
It’s hard to keep a free range house bunny cooped up in a cage.
