I read most people give their bunnies pellets as a reward during training but my bunny really isn’t enthusiastic about them. What’s a moderately healthy treat I can reward him with during training?

I usually give pellets but sometimes I give carrot
It’s great because it’s healthy, but also very sweet for buns so it’s a treat! (Don’t give too much though!)

If your bun likes raisins, you can cut them in half or thirds and use those. Or another option are matchstick carrots cut into 5 or 6 tiny pieces. You want clicker treats to be one bite, which is why people use a single pellet. You would need to measure out an appropriate amount and don’t give any more treats once those are gone. So maybe 4 or 5 raisins (total per day) or an equivalent amount of carrot…

Mine really like dried willow leaves, which don’t have the sugar concerns that fruit or carrots do, so you don’t have to worry as much about overfeeding.

I typically use pellets, but if your bun isn’t motivated by them then hopefully he likes something else. Raisins or craisins cut into tiny pieces work well. Some people use full lettuce leaves or herbs and let the bun have a nibble, then take it away.

                  Are raisins high in sugar?

Yes, they are dried fruit (grapes).

Haha, no worries. I wasn’t being sarcastic or anything.

I use Kaytee Timothy Hay biscuits with apple. But they’re pretty large, so I cut them into little pieces. My boys like this more than the Oxbow dried strawberries…which I assumed would be a hit. But letting them take a bite of carrot after a trick works well too. You just have to find what motivates your bun. It took me a few tries to figure it out. But it’s so much fun – it’s totally worth it.

My boys have learned: Up, Walk, Spin, Kiss; Hands (where they give me both paws); Jump (through a little hoop), and most recently to jump on top of their igloo. Now I’m thinking of moving onto simple commands like Come 🙂

I got carrots and raisins. He likes the raisins so far. (I ended up with the worlds only good rabbit and he only eats the amount he’s “supposed” to get. I tried to spoil him and give him 5-6 raisins and he ate three and was done lol. He did this the day I got him with banana too. Lol silly boy. Ill start cutting the raisins up and cutting a baby carrot into small pieces to give as well.
