About a week and a half ago, I noticed that Felix has a dark gray spot on his back. There isn’t anything wrong there and it’s just the fur that’s different. Its longer than the rest of the fur and not as..whispy. Could this be a winter coat coming in? His very soft fur now is like, I would say baby fur. He has been shedding more and more, being OCD about being clean. Should I be concerned or is it normal?

It sounds like his first shedding, that new spot is likely what color his adult coat will look like. My Bumpy’s light brown coloring is now being replaced with a slightly darker brown and his facial hair has gone from tan to a mix with grey. Seems normal to me. Just repeating what everyone seems to say: Make sure he’s eating plenty of hay to help with any extra hair he’s ingesting with the extra cleaning, and give him extra petting or brushing to help the flyaway hairs break free. That way he won’t be taking as much in.

At what age do they get their adult coat?
