I was petting/playing with my 1 year old bunny (dutch mix, dwarf, male) when I felt something under his skin. It was about an inch long and cylindrical under the skin by his shoulder. It moves around a little when you poke it. It wasn’t there yesterday. What in the world could this be???!!!! I am really worried!

(Please note) I wanted to ask binky bunny first, just because I don’t know if this is a serious emergency, or if what I thought I was feeling was like a muscle or something. (that’s just an example)

It could be a few things, but it seems odd that it wasnt there yesterday.
Abscesses are often around the neck and shoulders, so that is possible. :/
Has he been in a fight possibly? Because it could be swelling from a bite.
Best thing to do when in doubt would be to see a vet!

Sorry! lol I don’t know what an abscess is. And no he has not been in a fight. Minney, his “soul mate” never tries to hurt him

Does your bunny have long fur…? Could it be a grass/hay seed ?

no he is short haired, and idk if he is microchipped, we adopted him from the hrs, and are abscesses a danger to him? does he need to be looked at by a vet?

An abscess is dangerous. A microchip is not. I would check with a vet to be safe. Since he is adopted, it is very possible he has a microchip.

A microchip isn’t quite an inch long.

You could call the place you adopted from and ask if they microchip their rabbits.

I would contact HRS and ask them about the microchip and also get a referral to a vet if they think he may need to see a vet.
