        Hello everyone!

I’ve been lurking here for awhile, but I finally decided to join.

I adopted Elphie, a one-year-old holland lop, about two months ago from someone who couldn’t care for her anymore. She’s very energetic and loves being out of her cage, and she gets extra-affectionate when it’s time for dinner . She hasn’t really been interested in the toys I’ve gotten/made for her. Instead, she likes to chew on the bars of her cage. Any tips on how to disuade her would be appreciated!

          Welcome to BB!

Elphie is adorable! I have a bar chewer also. My boy has bunches of toys and four friends to play with and he still LOVES chewing on those darn bars. So I’ve given up and just let him go at. Haha!

Great to have you here. She really is cute! I’m no rabbit psychologist (by far!) but you’ve made me wonder why some buns do that. Is it the bars they find attractive, or aggravated about? Do they just like the firmness of metal? I’ve given mine a keyring with a couple spare keys on it and sometimes he just slings them around. I don’t know if it’s the sound he likes, or just showing his displeasure of where they are laying… or the metal itself. He doesn’t bite his bars and doesn’t really bite the keys, just slings them around sometimes when he’s near them. lol

                  Thanks for all the replies!

@manic_muncher: I’ve been searching for an answer as to why she does that. I originally thought it was because she wanted to come out and play, but then she started hopping into her open cage during out time and chewing on them. So, I really don’t know
