Any experienced owners have any suggestions on what kind of treats would be good for a 7-8 week year old Holland lop? I’ve tried carrots and even the pre-packaged little carrott cookie things and it doesn’t seem to care for them. It does go crazy on baby romaine lettuce though lol.

Any suggestions on what kind of treats would be good for him? I’m trying to find something to incentivism him on learning his name.

        Thanks in advance!

Foo’s favorites are Oxbow’s banana reward treats and all living things papaya bits. She goes crazy for both and they are both pretty much just dried and dehydrated fruits with no added sugar.

I have not had a baby bunny before, so this could be wrong, but I don’t think you are supposed to introduce veggies and, presumably fruit, before they are 12 weeks old. I don’t think there system is quite ready for those things. It might be best to hold off on the name training for a bit.

I just reread your post and am not sure of your bunny’s age now. Is he 7 to 8 weeks or a year old?

If he’s a year old, I’d recommend dried willow leaves. My bunny is very picky but likes them and, unlike fruit, you don’t have to worry about too much sugar when feeding them.

If he’s 7-8 weeks old he’s too young for treats. Just needs hay, pellets, and water right now. Extra sugar could disrupt his digestion. It’s recommended that fresh foods be introduced at 12 weeks old and in small quantities, slowly.

Sorry auto correct got the best of my post. He’s roughly 8 weeks old.
So at this age it’s better to not feed anything other than hay and pellets?

If he’s already getting veggies (with no ill effect) don’t remove them from his diet, but don’t add anything new for 2-3 weeks. Keep things very simple for now.

If you want to give a “treat” (which is basically anything you “hand-feed”), give him a pellet or a piece of romaine by hand.

                        I agree with Beka.

If you want some more info on bunny diet -
I would real the full article in the second link and not just the list. It has a lot of great info about rabbit digestion and veggies.
