I am looking for any information on growing grass for my bunnies, either indoor or outdoor, in plastic containers. Does anyone do this? My main concerns are: 1. What kind of grass is best? 2. What kind of soil is best to AVOID bugs? And I’ve seen on several sites that some say to use potting soil, others say compost. Can someone tell me the difference? I’m sorry, I’m not a big gardener, if you can tell I would very much appreciate any advice and ideas. Thank you

For the grass, I used an oat/wheat/barley mix, but I have also used plain wheatgrass. It is usually sold as kitty grass, but look at the back to see what it contains. I just used fertilizer and pesticide free potting soil, and that worked great!

I second everything LongEaredLions said. I would add that you can use bunny poop as a fertilizer. It’s great, natural, and safe.

LongEaredLions…. Do you think Walmart would carry pesticide free potting soil?

When I was anticipating the bunny’s arrival, I began thinking of all the free fertilizer I would be getting. I found myself wondering should I buy some sort of storage container to keep it in, you know… to have a “supply”. ROFL I had no idea how much SUPPLY I would actually be getting!
