unlimited hay, lots of fresh veggies, very limited pellets. i’d read some articles from this website and house rabbit society, they’ve been super informative and cover all kinds of topics from food to grooming and monthly responsibilities. also, easy on the caps lock! some people might think you’re yelling and not want to answer.

Yup, keep him away from the dog food. The links Godwit gave you are great.

The recommended diet for an Adult rabbit:
                Unlimited Hay & Water
1/4-1/2 cup of plain timothy based pellets per 6lbs of body weight
2 cups of bunny safe leafy greens per 6lbs of body weight

With pellets you want to avoid anything with “extras” like fruit, veggies, ect… Just a plain pellet. Some good brands/lines are:
                – Oxbow Essentials Adult Rabbit
                – Oxbow Organic Rabbit BeneTera
                – Kaytee Timothy Complete
                – Kaytee Forti-Diet Pro Health Rabbit (Adult)
                – Zupreem Nature’s Promise
                – Zupreem Timothy Naturals
                – Sweet Meadow Timothy Pellets
                – Oxbow Natural Science Adult

Yes, keep him away from the dog food. Pretty much all dog foods will have meat products of some sort in them and that’s obviously really bad for a bunny.

Pellets are used for farmed rabbits (mainly because it’s cheap and loaded with calories to make the bunnies gain weight quickly) however a limited amount of high quality pellets like the ones listed above are still good for house rabbits because it helps balance out their vitamins and minerals intake. It can be very difficult to meet all of your rabbit’s dietary needs with veggies alone so most people still feed a small amount of pellets to ensure that their bunny is getting a well rounded diet. If you bunny is full grown then the pellets should be limited and be a very small portion of his daily food. I consider pellets to be more of a daily multi vitamin for my little one. She get’s a little bit in the morning and a little bit at night but the bulk of her diet comes from hay and veggies.

Please read the articles that have been posted since they are filled with good information that will help you better understand your rabbits’ needs and how to meet those needs.
