Granville has a infection in his jaw. Vet says everything has been done for him. The only option I have is to give him 1mg of metacam aday to keep the pain away and just enjoy him and keep him happy for as long as I can. Granville is about 9 (not completely sure as I rescued him). He brother died 4 years again cos of problems with his teeth. Has anyone been through this with there bunny and what did you do??

I have not had to deal with this myself, but can you give us more info…

What has the vet done already?
          What meds have been given?
          Diagnostic tests?
          Surgeries/procedures performed?
How long has this been going on?
Have you (or the vet) consulted with a specialist for a second opinion?

Granville has had baytril, Zantac and metacam. Will finish baytril tomorrow. It’s been 12 days since I rushed him to the vets. All vet did was take the spires down when Granville was conscious as Granville is about 9

It doesn’t sound like much was done really.

I have had many seniors (over 9 years old) go under anesthesia and do fine – we always did bloodwork prior however to make sure we could do this.

I would think for a dental abscess as well that pen-g shots are going to be much more effective than baytril. Why zantac?

I think you need to have your vet get more aggressive or seek a second opinion.

Granville is going well at mo, giving me the run around. But is more cuddly than normal.

Zantac was to stop tummy problem from the batril as he wouldn’t eat at the vets. But since being home has been eating lot and lots of his dried food.
