So i dont know if this is the right spot for me to put this but i have a few questions

1st I heard that female bunnies smell worse than male bunnies (urine and stuff) Is that true?

2nd Will male bunnies hump things even if its neutered because i have younger sisters and me and my mom dont want to have to explain what its doing all the time (ones only 6). We are not planning on having another bunny, so its mostly humping other stuff.

3rd Can you guys give me some opinions on what gender you like better from personal experiences and stuff like that. Like how playful they are or aggresiveness ect.

        Thanks sooo much

Ps: If you know please answer, we need to decide soon which gender we would like

          1) Based off today, bringing my bunny home from the vet, male rabbit urine smells awful! I have no experience with how a females urine smells. No fear though, if you buy a good, absorbent litter (I use CAREfresh), and you change the litter pans often, the smell will not bother you.

          2) I have a neutered male bunny, who has not humped anything, but I do think it depends on the rabbit, about 7 years ago I had a neutered male, lop, and he still humped (not frequently though). But, some females have been known to hump as well (definitely not as frequently as males) ** this is based on experience from a friends rabbit

          3) I have only ever had male rabbits, not out of personal preference, but just simply fell in love with the rabbit. I truely believe you need to meet both bunnies first and pick based on personality instead of gender. If you are planning on getting them spayed/neutered (or if they already are, such as from a shelter), both male and females are generally tame and similarly behaved, but each rabbit has individual personalities, which is more important than boy/girl.

Hope this helps, good luck picking out your new forever friend!! =)

Both boys and girls can smell pretty rank. It’s hormones, so spaying/neutering fixes that problem (along with hormonal behaviors).

Boys and girls both hump. Some more than others, but gender doesn’t necessarily matter. Spaying/neutering can cut down on this behavior if it is fueled by hormones. But it may not completely go away if you have a particularly dominant rabbit since rabbits hump to show dominance.

I have only had boys as an adult. They are much friendlier than the girl rabbit I had when I was a kid. That doesn’t necessarily mean anything though since tons of members here will tell you they have had the opposite experience.

If they are fixed, it shouldn’t matter. Each rabbit has their own personality.

My male rabbit is super sweet and loving. His urine odor improved greatly once neutered. Now it doesn’t have much of a smell at all. He also humped but neutering stopped that. It is cheaper to neuter a male rabbit than to spay a female rabbit, for what it’s worth. I’ve never had a female rabbit but my friend has one who nips. She is in spayed though.
