Hera seems to get patches of dry skin on the backs of her ears.  She doesn’t mind me rubbing them and brushing off the dry parts with my fingers.  Wondering if this is a normal thing for up-eared rabbits, particularly rabbits with very small ears?

Zeus’s ears are always immaculate… but he also is a lop, with very long ears, so he can easily reach his ears to groom them.  I don’t think Hera can physically reach her ears, even with her paws.  They’re TINY, they remind me of Netherland Dwarf ears.

If this is normal, just wondering what the best way to deal with it is.  Can’t imagine moisturizer is good for bunnies, so should I just continue to rub/groom her ears with my fingers, as much as she will allow?

Monkey gets dry skin on her ears, particularly when shedding. I think it’s because she just can’t reach to clean those little ears properly I just rub them for her whenever she’ll let me, and it seems to ease it a bit.

I wonder if that’s prescription only or over the counter?

Monkeybun; Yeah I think it’s the same thing with Hera.  I wonder if she’d care about me wiping them with a damp, warm washcloth… Zeus lovesssss his face wiped with a washcloth, but he’s also a weirdo and not phased by anything, LOL.

im thinking its possibly prescription because it has cortisone but I wouldn’t know for certain.

I wonder if you could try a bit of regular neosporin ointment or
the eye ointment version if its over the counter? It’s triple antibiotic.
Or do bag balm or a zinc based cream first if its just a case of dry skin.

                  OR…
Bond her with Zeus and he can groom her ears for her.
Easier said then done right? Lol

Olivia gets dry ears too. Little flakes. I know it’s not mites because I had it checked. I use a soft baby brush to brush it off her ears. She loves it.

Just the thought of bonding gives me an ulcer, I’m such a chicken.  They seem to co-exist pretty peacefully at least though.

LittlePuffy; Good idea, I think I’ll give that a try.  If that doesn’t work, I’ll see if a dab of balm works.
