I traded Marty’s shavings in for an easier-to-clean dark blue bathmat from SuperStore, but since yesterday his paws have been getting pinker and pinker.  I’ve tried to pick him up to take a closer look, but he just goes ape $*&! and now he’s scared of me, but from what I’ve seen it isn’t sore hocks or anything in the skin, just colouring on his fur.  Is it possible that his pee dissolved some of the dye from the mat (which is dark blue, NOT pink :s) and somehow coloured his paws pink?  Or is this some other kind of condition?

Rabbit urine can be a pink/orange color so it might be that, but you might want to bunny burrito him to check for sore hocks, as they can be serious. Do you use colored bedding or newspaper in his litterbox? Could he have gotten into anything in his run area? The other thing could be if he ate anything red then licked his paws.

I’ve seen dark blue blankets make orange-red dye stains on wet items left against them. In manufacturing, if a light colored fabric or fiber come out badly, they will often over-dye it a very dark color so that it doesn’t get wasted. Usually they go black, though. It’s possible the mat was originally pink or red and had some flaw so they manufacturer over-dyed it blue.

Check the bottom of the mat (assuming it has a white bottom like most) … some of the mats have a top dye and will bleed a totally different color out the bottom. You can also try putting some peroxide or something on a washcloth and seeing if you can get the dye out to see what color it turns the washcloth.
