I have had my bunny Tarzan for only two days. He is a ten week old Netherlands dwarf rabbit. He is the sweetest bunny but some of his behavior worries me. He ate a part of my phone case earlier. It’s a rubber case. Will he be okay? Also while he is out of the cage he will eat his poop but I don’t think he Is eating any real food. I try putting him near his food but he’ll just drink some water and hop away. He won’t chew on or play with any of his toys. He prefers my laundry and plastic to chew on.

Step number one – BUNNY PROOF!!!! He may not have actually EATEN the rubber, so much as just used it as a chew toy, but watch his pooping. If he hasn’t pooped in about 12 hrs, then worry. He’s drinking and hopping so that’s good. He might be nibbling a feww pellets and you just can’t tell. Is he on the same food he was on before you got him? Is he nibbling hay? He might just be nervous still, but if he’s pooping out, then something is going in, so that’s good. Just relax and keep an eye on him, and maybe keep him in his cage for a couple of days so he gets to feel like it’s home. Have fun!

I don’t know what food he was on when I got him. He does have a constant supply of hay in his bin feeder and I think he is eating it. I’ve only been putting him in his cage at night or when I’m not in the room. The pet store I got him from had him in his cage 24/7 and he is just loving the freedom. I will defiantly hide all the plastic. Ill try getting him some new toys today. Thank you so much!

Tiny – my bunny didn’t play with toys when she was little either. She also didn’t eat hay for a loooong time. Make sure he’s got some good pellets until he develops a taste for the hay.

Felix was like that, and kind of still is. He loves my laundry and will chew anything once. I had to give him some “laundry” of his own. He has some pices of 100% cotten cloth in his cage that are his size blankets. He can chew, poop, whatever to them and I won’t scorn him. I have to keep anything I don’t want him to chew/poop on away from his reach.

As for the not eating, as probably is, just not when you are noticing. Bunnies are prey animals so he is probably too scared to let you see just yet. When he calms down he won’t care what you do.
