        Hello All!

My name is Danielle, 19 years old and from Australia!
Yesterday I brang home my first baby bunny, he was at a terrible shelter and the people didn’t know what type of rabbit he/she is or what gender. So i am also clueless.

I know how to tell the difference in genders, but im waiting for him/her to settle in before I pick him up and check.
Im convinced he’s a boy haha.

I am also going to upload photos of him/her in hope that one of you know what kind of bunny he is

Hes so curious and not scared of anything, quiet placid really, so unisex names are also appreciated!
Im leaning towards pikachu as my boyfriend is inlove with pokemon haha.

He is in his cage atm, but i have purchased a big play pen to turn into his cage, so he will have plenty of room, plus i have a paddock out the back of my house so i will be taking him for walks.

Any tips on bonding with my bun also?

        Thank you everyone!

Hi from another Australian : )

Cute baby bun you have there!

Most rabbits that end up in shelters are mix breeds. Knowing exactly what’s in the mix is always a guessing game.
His ears might even lop yet! If that happens, I think he’d be a dwarf lop (called a Mini Lop in the US)
You get a better idea of possible breeds once they are fully grown and you know their adult weight and body shape.

I can tell you he will likely change colour quite a bit. The dark shade on his nose will probably cover more of his face and his ears darken to that colour too. Often the legs get the shading too. Like a Siamese cat.

If you look up images of “sooty fawn” it will give you an idea of the colour he might become.

Yeah i thought he would do that with his colour. Im so inlove already

Awwww I love the name Pikachu!!! But then again I am part of the Pokemon generation.
Pikas are also another type of lagomorph (the scientific order bunnies belong to) so it fits in that respect as well.

As far as bonding goes, nothing beats good old bribery. Hand feed it lots of healthy treats to buy his or her love. If you have a room that he or she is allowed free roam time, it is good to sit on the floor and let him/her come up and investigate you at its own pace.

                Welcome to Binky Bunny!

Bonding with your bun takes time. Some bunnies take longer than others. The best thing to do is spend lots of time at his level. Sit on the floor, watch tv or read and just ignore bunny. When he comes over, don’t try to pat him at first, just let him check you out and realize you are never going to be a threat. You can have some small treats or pellets to offer him. Try not to handle him unless necessary as this is upsetting to most bunnies.
