We might have to move to Florida and I was wondering if a bunny can withstand a 28 hour car ride?  It will actually be in a moving truck and he will be up front with me but I don’t know where to begin on making sure he will be ok and comfortable.  Last time we moved 2 hours away and he was in the back seat of my car in a big bunny cage with his food, hay, and box and he did fine but this is more extreme of a ride. This was 5 years ago when he was a little baby.  Now he lives in a condo and has his own room and gets irritated when he can come out of his condo for long periods of time.  This isn’t for sure but I just wanted to ask just incase.  I really don’t want to find him a new home because I have had him since a baby for 5 years and I am his mommy and don’t trust anyone else   Thank you in advance for any suggestions

Start making a strategy for the trip… How much space is available upfront (is it one of those trucks with a sleeper or could you get one of those trucks with a sleeper).. What intervals if any will you be stopping for… Will you be making an overnight stop… Would he be just as comfortable in a small carrier in your lap (flight style) for the journey.

I’ve had to travel with my Buns in a car on the road a few times before, each time for about 5 hours each way. It certainly isn’t ideal – he will sit and sulk for an hour when we arrive at our destination, but shortly after he comes bounding out for some love and forgets the whole ordeal!

As a house bun, I just take him in his indoor cage. He has a pillow he is fond of sitting on, so I put that in the cage- he sits on that during the journey so he feels less vibration from the vehicle and he seems perfectly happy. Whenever we stop, I give him lot’s of love and offer treats.

Pack plenty of treats and keep an eye on him I’m sure he’ll be fine at the end. The journey will be less traumatic than losing you I’m sure
