         Hi everyone,

I’ve not long had my first house bunny and I love her to bits.  I’m learning all sorts of things about her!

For the last two weeks when I sit on the floor and call her, she will start licking my clothes all over and my skin.  She will do it continuously for ages and expects nothing in return.  In fact she looks miffed if I stroke her!

        Any idea what this means?

        I’m new here btw,

        Many thanks

        Jen

Bella does that too….. I do think they are trying to groom you like they would a fellow rabbit. Bunny love! Either that or you taste good!

I’ve always understood that if you are licked then they are grooming you, which “makes you a rabbit” and is therefore one of the highest compliments a rabbit can pay to you. Some stroking/head rubbing would be a good response, even if she isn’t asking for it. My last rabbit licked me alot, these two haven’t gotten to that point yet, though sniffing and walking on me are both excellent pass times far as I can tell.

My bunny has got really into licking me lately too! Most of all though he spends heaps of time licking my sheets on my bed. Weird!

Thanks guys, that’s really interesting to hear! It seems I am becoming a rabbit then She has even started trying to lick my hair and licked my lip the other night. Strange bun!

Out of interest are yours neutered? Mine isn’t yet, but I plan on getting her spayed soon. I haven’t let her on my sheets yet… well she hasn’t figured out that how to get up there but I would put money on her washing my sheets too!

Awww. She sound sweet. Mine won’t groom me, but they don’t groom each other much either. They aren’t really affectionate that way. Powder likes to lick my pillow though, when he slept in the bed with me I would wake up to the sound of his tongue raking across my pillow and sleepily roll over like “Powder, stop that, go back to sleep” and he’d move and then during the night I would end up with my face on the spot and it’d be soaked. lol

My Bridge bunny, Stormy, used to do that. He would lick our clothes and faces until we had to push him away because we were all wet! He especially had a fondness for pajama pants, for some reason, and would also lick our pillows. I really miss his bunny kisses since my current two don’t kiss humans.

Rufus just got neutered and seems to have replaced humping with licking. He used to lick things a little bit but now it’s really picked up, especially if he’s in my bedroom where I guess everything smells more like me. My favourite is that if I’m lying on the bed and he’s hopping around he comes back every couple of minutes and licks my nose. So adorable.
