ok so one of my rabbits or maybe both are chewwing and digging the carpet. its in no specific spot and it has to stop bc this house is a rental and if they keeping doing it we are going to probably have the carpet replaced. although we did pay to have the dogs so maybe i can just blame ot on them but doees that fee go towards replacing carpet? anyway im planning on adding 2 digging boxes one in the cage and one out. both will have a large box with a regular litter box inside. but whats the best digging material and does this usually qork? is there anything else i can do? i can put an area rug under my cage but not the whole room.

I have a blanket laid down on the carpet and just listen really hard for chewing! Whenever we catch him digging or biting at the carpet we clap and say no and shoo him away. I don’t really know what else to do, but I’ve read that people make boxes with newspaper shreds in it for digging as well!

I have tried diggy boxes, all my buns did was use it as a litter box and keep eating the carpet.

I’ve tried diggy boxes since my Bindi loves to dig and often makes noise scratching and digging in the corner of his condo but all they did was sit in it. I used shredded newspaper.

I suspect younger bunnies would enjoy a diggy box more. My buns are 6 and are kind of lazy most of the time.

I tried it with my 4 month old rex and she loves to dig, she just sat in it and used it as a potty room. Even if I put treats under the newspaper. *shrug*

Something I guess I should mention is, instead of a diggy box since my two like carpet I bought a cat condo with fleece lining inside and they LOVE to dig the fleece out of it.

They chewed up a towel I gave them so I don’t know if fleece would be OK.

Did they try to ingest it, or just rip it up? The fleece lining I expect to get destroyed – utterly and totally destroyed. But, that is the point, they destroy it and not my carpets.  They don’t try to ingest any of it though.
