Hey guys! I’ve been searching everywhere for any hay that Barney and Belle like … and in the end all they actually like is ReadiGrass! I found it in my local pet shop, it’s quite expensive but its sooo green and they love it, wont touch any other hays – even the expensive ones!

So does anyone else use Readigrass? Any experience/advice would be good, I’m wondering whether it’s ok to feed this all the time as they dont eat much else, or is there any reason i shouldnt?

Thanks! Anna, Barney & Belle xxx

We give our two buns readi grass every now and then. We got it for our new bun as he has no front teeth and was struggling to eat hay. I think it’s meant to be quite high in protein though and I can’t imagine it will help to wear the teeth down as the pieces are so fine.
We only give them it once a week at most, more as a treat really.

You’re probably better of buying the bulk pack online.

Try mix it with they hay so it encourage them buns to eat more hay. That way, if you ever run out of readigrass, at least you’ll know they’ll take in some hay. Hay gives a small amount of vitamin D in the diet too. Since Readigrass is not sun-cured, it wont provide this. (I think pellets provide VitD supplement anyway).
I would personally give them a ration so they get used to knowing once its gone, the option is hay for the rest of the day.

Readigrass alone it’s a pretty natural food for them. You cant get better then grass! You could reduce pellets if you get any messy poop probs from protein. Or if you’re cutting out pellets altogether, readigrass will give them good protein. Barney being a long fur breed and Belle a young bunny, they do need their protein.

Out of curiosity, what hays have you tried so far?
