I was feeding Java a strawberry like most nights, but I noticed when he was eating a piece that he swallowed weird. It only happened once but it almost looked like either discomfort or difficulty swallowing. His ears went back and his head went up and kinda back and then he swallowed. After that he was totally normal, licked his dewlap a bit, then came back for another bite. I gave him the rest and he ate it normally.

Is this a sign of something serious and is it worthy of a vet trip?

If it only happened once I would suspect a stray seed or a particularly tart piece of strawberry. Just monitor his eating and if it happens again with other foods then it would not hurt to take him for a check up.

Hmm, maybe! I figure that it’s just like how we might swallow funny if we eat too fast (and he eats his fruit way too fast!), so hopefully that was all. Just over paranoid here, heh. He’s perfectly normal in every other way. He finished the strawberry fine, and ate his dried herbs just fine. He was eating hay earlier, too. So hopefully it won’t happen again.

Sounds just like what Bindi did when he got pellets stuck in his throat. Probably just ate too fast. Bunnies are little gluttons!
