Flaky skin isn’t normal for rabbits. I don’t think it sounds like an emergency situation, but it is something to bring up to your vet when you take her in for her “new bunny exam”, hopefully within the next few weeks.

Regarding the water bottle, try offering her a water bowl instead. This is a more natural way for rabbits to drink.

I would actually contact the former owner and find out if they gave a treatment. The fur being cut away makes me think they may have done this to apply a product. Some might do this as a precaution or if another rabbit had mites so they treated all.
It would pay to know what they gave if they have treated.

I used Revolution on a bunny a few months ago and got a bit of skin reaction with flakey skin. It actually looked like what fur mite does but it was his second dose. He didnt have a reaction previously.

Being a new bunny, a health check at a vet would be a good idea.

With water, some suggest putting a bit of something sweet tasting on the sipper spout to encourage the bunny to lick at it.
Are you giving a bowl along with the sipper bottle too at the moment?

Bathing won’t help if it’s mites. Bathing a bunny is sth you should really avoid. Cheyletiella mites are not difficult to get rid of and they are very common in rabbits. Your breeder may have some medicine to give/sell you, a breeder faces this problem quite often. Revolution requires a prescription in most countries but it’s very efficient and easy to use.

But the mites are not causing underweight unless she is itching so bad she’s lost her appetite.

If it’s not mites it could be some kind of fungal infection. But cheyletiella parasitovorax is probably the most likely cause. Can you get a photo of it?
