        Hey

we’ve just moved home, and i am just after contacting our local farmer to uncover his prices for hay (we don’t buy out of petshops as i generally avoid them at all costs, nasty places, and also it’s SO much cheaper this way)

He advised it’s “Soft Hay” he has – what is this? I’ve only ever encountered Timothy or Meadow straight from the farms previously.

Is it okay for bunnies? I know some hay isn’t great for their respitory systems, and also with it being so important for their teeth – I want to be sure.

Particularly as Patrick already has been treated for spurs at the young age of 5months (hereditory)

Apprecaiate any info you guys can give!

        thanks!

What does he mean by soft hay though – I know second and third cut timothy is softer hay which is what I feed my rabbits. They also have second cut orchard – maybe that’s what he means – you may want to have him clarify exactly what it is he is talking about.

I guess what I’m saying is when in doubt ask the source directly so you know for certain.

Some people call orchard grass a soft hay, because it is much softer and grassier than other hays (such as oat). I would ask what he means by soft hay…
