My bunny broke a nail the other day and we took her to the vet today to get it clipped. They sedated her for it and afterwards gave us pain medication to give her.

I’m not sure if she actually needs it though. She’s home now and she is acting completely normal. She ate her dinner, hopped around (flicked her feet because she hates us today), jumped into the top level of her maze, etc.

I know regular doctors are always quick to give medication whether or not it’s needed and I assume vets are similar.

I wanted some advice from fellow bunny owners! If she wasn’t acting normal, it would be a no brainer but she really doesn’t seem like she’s in any pain.

Bunnies are really good at hiding pain. What medication did your vet give you? I know metacam is basically bunny ibuprofen so it doesn’t really hurt to give it if you aren’t sure.

Thank you for the response! It was metacam. We gave her some.

Bunnies are really good at hiding pain. My bunny is on metacam twice a day and has been on it for 2 1/2 years now so it is safe to give to bunny. Hope bunny feels better!

Thank you! She’s feeling much better today and is as happy as can be. She just flopped and rolled on her back three times within 15 minutes. I guess the trauma of yesterday is behind her.
